Veterans Health and Wellness Foundation (VHWF) Internship
ABOUT VHWF
The Veteran’s Health and Wellness Foundation (VHWF) is a non-profit 501c3 charitable entity established by military
Veterans with expertise in the areas of health, wellness and healthcare delivery. Serving our military men and women
nationwide, the organization focuses on addressing systemic inequities regarding access to and quality of care for
Veterans and their families. Since 2013, the Foundation has touched thousands of Veterans and their family members
to assist with their healthcare needs. VHWF aims to raise awareness amongst civilians to understand the challenges of
Veterans.
MISSION: Our Mission is to build, educate and maintain resource networks to support the complex physical, social and
emotional health needs of Veteran communities across the nation.
VISION: We envision communities that possess the knowledge and capacity to not only identify and address
service-related health challenges, but to embrace, support and empower Veterans and their families who experience
them.
DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS
● Assist with the management of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
● Locate and share facts and articles from credible sources related to Veteran and military family
health and wellness
● Assist in the preparation of grant applications
● Create content to use in newsletters and other email communications
● Occasional administrative duties (i.e., minutes for meetings, place calls, respond to messages
TIME COMMITMENT
VHWF requests a commitment of at least 4 – 6 hours per week. Scheduling is extremely flexible: Applicants
may choose any day(s) of the week to complete the necessary tasks. A brief check-in with a member of
the leadership team will be scheduled biweekly (or more frequently if the applicant prefers) .
This is a position VHWF looks to fill immediately.
LOCATION
The position is 100% virtual. The applicant must be comfortable meeting using video platforms such as
Zoom and Go To Meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
This position is intended for students currently enrolled in higher education.
Individuals must have great writing and communication skills, non judgmental personality, and
professional mannerisms. Familiarity with social media platforms is required.
Those with an interest in the wellbeing of Veteran and military families, non profit leadership, marketing
and communications, and/or healthcare are encouraged to apply. Those with a military background either
as a service member or as a spouse/parent/child of someone who is currently serving, or who has served
or is preparing to serve, are also encouraged to apply.

SCHOOL CREDIT
We understand students may be required to meet certain internship/volunteer criteria for credit eligibility
through their college or university. VHWF allows the opportunity to tailor certain aspects of the position to
fit individual needs.
BENEFITS
Since VHWF is emerging as an organization, this position is not currently paid. We do, however, believe
interns will find the experience rewarding due to the development potential, exposure in the field, and
networking opportunities. Opportunity to help Veterans and their families in need of healthcare,
housing, food, and employment.
