Workforce Development Showcase

Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development invite you to learn about resources and funding opportunities you can leverage to grow your business at our Workforce Development Showcase!

Program Overview

The Workforce Development Showcase will highlight three programs that can help you attract talent and grow your workforce, as well as explore potential grant funding and other financial opportunities. These include:

The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option

The Service Year Option program provides recent Maryland high school graduates, GED recipients, or those who have earned a high school completion certificate the opportunity to spend at least nine months with partnering organizations that support their growth and development. In turn, the opportunities strengthen Maryland’s workforce and expand the state’s employment.

The Maryland Corps program shares those same goals and aims to recruit more seasoned individuals looking to pivot in their career or reenter the workforce.

Sarah Worley, Recruitment Specialist for the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation, will highlight the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option opportunities.

The Maryland Technology Internship Program (MTIP)

The Maryland Technology Internship Program (MTIP) helps Maryland retain top tech talent by increasing the number of paid technical internships offered in the state. Administered by UMBC and funded by the State of Maryland, the program offers financial assistance to technology-based businesses, as well as state and local agencies, to hire more interns.

Jen Spencer Heilman, M.Ed., GCDF, Program Director of Workforce Initiatives
with the Maryland Technology Internship Program, will highlight the Maryland Technology Internship Program opportunities.
