Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development, in partnership with Upper Shore Regional Council is providing grant funding to local agricultural businesses looking to expand, diversify, or improve their marketing efforts, implement capital improvement projects, or conduct agricultural research initiatives through our Micro Agricultural Grant Program. Eligible Applicants
The purpose of the project is to help support and sustain the development, expansion, and coordination of agricultural enterprises and initiatives in Queen Anne’s County. Applicants must operate an agricultural business in Queen Anne’s County, MD and be actively engaged in the farming community in one or more of the following categories:
- Crop and/or livestock production (including Equine) Agricultural product processing
- Agricultural education or support
- Agricultural Cooperatives
- Timber production or processing
Eligible Projects
Grant funding can be used for the following purposes:
- Strategic marketing campaigns
- Technology innovation or implementation
- Climate resiliency projects
- Capital improvements for business start-up, expansion, or value-added production
- Research projects
- Animal welfare improvements
Available Funding
Approximately $64,000 is available to fund applications under this program in FY2023. Grant requests ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 will be considered on a competitive basis.
Grant Process
Please submit a complete and accurate online application with all required supporting documentation by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Your submission should include:
- Completed online application
- Completed W-9 form
- Completed QAC Vendor Form
- Verification that your business is in good standing with the State of Maryland
- Documentation to support your request for financial assistance (a quote, receipts, invoices, cancelled checks, etc.)
- Articles of Incorporation/Organization/Formation, Bylaws and/or Operating Agreement, as applicable
Applications will be reviewed by committee in early February 2023. Applicants will be sent a confirmation that their application has been received and will be contacted via email with questions and/or with funding outcomes. This is a cost reimbursable grant. Grantees must complete a reimbursement request showing proof of expenses. Expenses incurred for the project dating back to October 2021 can be retroactively reimbursed. Grantees must complete a final grant report due to Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development by June 15, 2023.
