QACETD is excited to highlight and celebrate Evan Dickey, a 2024 graduate of Queen Anne’s County High School who gained valuable experience that landed him a job with Wye River Marine upon graduation! Evan received youth apprenticeship training from Wye River Marine, where he worked part time as a technician during his senior year of high school.
When asked what career advice he’d give, Evan says, “Try things out to find what you like and don’t like to do. It’s not just about the money. Doing work at Wye River Marine during high school helped me find what I want to do.”
Both Evan and Service Mentor Anthony DePasquale agreed that learning new skills on the job and doing those skills repeatedly helps new workers get better each day.
“I did a variety of tech work,” says Evan. “It helped to apply what I learned in school to the real world.”
One of the things Evan most enjoys about his new job at Wye River Marine is the variety of work, and that each day brings different jobs.
Located on Piney Creek Road in Chester, MD, Wye River Marine is an exclusive Sea Hunt boat dealer who also offers used boats and Yamaha service. Learn more at wyerivermarine.com.
