SALT wellness Leverages Queen Anne’s County’s Available Commercial Space and Robust Workforce to Diversify and Grow

“We are trying to make the space really nourishing for the community so that our customers can tend to their mind, body, and soul. The space we’ve found here has enabled us to add more value to other areas of our clients’ lives beyond health and fitness.”

– Tiffani Galli, owner, SALT Wellness

To distinguish itself from other holistic care providers and enhance its service quality, SALT wellness has taken advantage of Queen Anne’s County’s peaceful setting, available commercial space, and skilled practitioners. These efforts have led to significant success and client satisfaction in its first year of business.

Business owner Tiffani Galli chose a location influenced by the serene and unique appeal of the Eastern Shore, aiming to offer her clients a calm and convenient setting. Here, they can engage in nourishing self-care that leaves them feeling revitalized. Various healing services include massages, sound baths, detoxifying foot soaks, tarot card readings, breathwork, and the business’s highlight—a 20,000-pound Himalayan salt cave.

“When you drive into historic Queenstown, it doesn’t feel like you’re one mile off of Route 301. The sleepy, charming town feels like an escape for people, which our clients need. A place to disconnect that is accessible for customers.”

– Tiffani Galli, owner, SALT Wellness

The numerous commercial business spaces in Queen Anne’s County allowed Galli to consider a variety of locations and building types for her business—from industrial buildings and business parks to mixed-use and rental spaces.

Galli realized the value that a uniquely charming space could bring to SALT wellness’s services. With a passion for preserving and uplifting historic buildings, Galli prioritized purchasing and conserving a main street property. This decision aligned with the business’s mission and helped increase its long-term financial assets.

“We get tons of people from Baltimore, Bethesda, Silver Spring, and all over. SALT wellness itself is an escape, but Queen Anne’s County is also an escape for many people because it is beautiful, serene, and quiet. It’s also accessible because it’s right off the highway, and people can plan trips around it. “

– Tiffani Galli, owner, SALT Wellness

Striking a balance between atmosphere and mass transit accessibility, Galli found a historic 170-year-old commercially zoned property just off U.S. 301 on Queenstown’s Main Street. The building was correctly zoned for constructing the business’s salt cave, while the existing first-floor spaces allowed SALT wellness to designate three private rooms and a sun-soaked solarium for treatments.

Quick highway access has been transformative for both the business and its clients. With convenient routes from Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and beyond, customers from bustling metropolises across the Mid-Atlantic can easily visit SALT wellness to experience healing treatments to improve physical, mental, and spiritual health.

“The hiring process has been really natural and easy. Most of our employees were customers who came in for a treatment and just happened to have the skills and passion that aligned with our vision. The universe provides, and it has been such a good experience.”

– Tiffani Galli, owner, SALT Wellness

At the core of its business, SALT wellness’s services focus on striking a balance between ancient techniques and emerging care methods. Finding a knowledgeable pool of skilled practitioners was critical for the business to help establish its desired breadth of services.

Hiring has been a natural process for the business, supported by Queen Anne’s County’s existing talent in health services. SALT wellness has hired three full-time employees and five part-time local practitioners—each specializing in different techniques and healing practices—to help round out their full schedule of daily services and bi-monthly class sessions.

SALT wellness also engages fitness instructors and local artisans in Queen Anne’s County to expand its business offerings into adjacent wellness fields. Behind the main building, a detached structure is home to Harvest Moon Fitness, a companion business specializing in barre and PiYO classes (a hybrid of yoga and pilates). Craft workshops with local makers are held in the property’s carriage house, contributing to clients’ creative stimulation and health.

“There was a ready market for people who would embrace this kind of holistic healthcare technique that might have been dismissed or ignored years ago. With the growth and expansion in Queen Anne’s County, the residents are looking for things like that.”
