Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development hosted an immersive business tour on May 2, 2024 in celebration of Small Business Week 2024. This event provided the opportunity to connect with and celebrate local entrepreneurs, share resources, and gain insight into the current business climate in northern Queen Anne’s County.
The tour brought together representatives from the Queen Anne’s County Economic Development Commission, key state agencies, local public officials and business owners in Queen Anne’s County.
The day began at the Chesapeake Heritage Visitors Center before attendees departed for a series of visits to businesses in Barclay, Church Hill, Millington and Sudlersville that exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit of Queen Anne’s County.
The first stop on the tour was Vicco Von Voss Furniture Design & Timber Framing, a business in Centreville renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship in custom furniture and timber framing. Participants then visited Chesapeake Burial Vault Company, a leading provider of burial vaults located in Barclay. From there, the tour continued to Calico Fields Environmental Education, a local nonprofit dedicated to environmental education and sustainability in Millington. Harbor Sales, a key player in the distribution of materials and supplies supporting various industries in the region, and Brusca Nursery, a family-owned business specializing in nursery products and landscaping services, were the next two business visits on the tour.
The tour concluded with lunch at Godfrey’s Farm Market & Pick Your Own Farm in Sudlersville, offering participants a chance to enjoy local produce and network in a relaxed setting.
